The question as to where funds for church planting are secured is not easily answered. Yes, there are sources, but not everyone have equally attainable means of support. Others can easily put up a new church, financial-wise, because they have a strong backing from their mother church. Not to mention, a big mother church means similarly huge support. Not everybody has this privilege, however, so when one has the calling and the burden to start a new church, there’s not always an immediate answer. The difficulties, however, are only challenges to help you have an increase in faith and an improvement in character. Check out these examples of possible source of funding for planters who ar
e planning to establish a new church.

Partner Church Support
This will allow you to get funds for church planting by providing you with partial support. Plus, it creates healthy connections between the planters, the mother churches, and the partner churches. In this case, the partner church makes a contribution to the church planting ministry. One problem here is that support and contribution provided is not enough to fund the whole project. It is possible to have more than one partner church to complete the necessary funds, but the process of finding benefactors can be considered fund raising in itself, so you need to be able to present your facts in such a way that others will see the need to support your cause.

Working Wives
Let’s face it, working wives can help supplement in managing the expenses for church planting. It also gives the wife a valuable distraction from the burdens and responsibilities of church planting. On the other hand, her time and energy will be unavailable for the planter. This is a subjective issue. If the couple is fine with having the wife work outside of the ministry, then there shouldn’t be any problem. It all boils down to understanding and agreement. Nowadays, it is not uncommon for a preacher’s wife to have a secular occupation. Not even for practicality, but respect. Ministry can be many things, depending on what you are called to for God’s glory. If you are to be a missionary nurse, then by all means do not get confined into the norms of society. Again, it all boils down to understanding between the two. Financial and emotional support is still support after all, not just time and presence.

Foundation Grants
Grants provide a great deal of assistance in the support raising process. Once you’ve secured a grant, you can instantly afford to launch your ministry. You apply for it and specify the purpose for which it will be used. There will then be a deliberation among the potential supporters as to the approval of the application. The only problem is that grants are hard to find, and it’s not renewable, so you might use up too much time just looking for foundation grants when you can focus your efforts instead on other equally beneficial, yet easily attainable fund support.

These are just three examples of possible sources of funds for your church planting ministry. The options are unlimited just as long as you know where to find. 2 Corinthians 9:8 “And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work.”

It’s a challenge, yet a privilege in one to know the steps to planting a church. A challenge because it’s no easy feat. There are lots of requirements being called for, not just materially, but spiritually above all. It is also a privilege in that not all churches are given the chance to have a church planting ministry. Churches that have the burden for this ministry normally have the following questions in mind. Check out these answers taken from certain books of the Bible to guide you along the way.

1. The first question in planning the steps to church planting is “how large or how old should a church be to be able to plant another church”? According to the Scriptures, the church in Jerusalem had only 120 members when they were commissioned to evangelize the entire world (Acts 1:8 and 15). Meanwhile, the church of Thessalonica was about one year old when Paul wrote 1 Thessalonians 1:8. Also, the church in Antioch was only a few years old when they started out reaching the world.

2. What is the urgent need of our generation? The Bible says that it is important for every Christian to be a reproducing Christian (Matthew 4:19), every pastor to be a reproducing pastor (2 Timothy 2:2), and every church to be a reproducing church (Acts 1:8). In short, we were saved so that we can share the message of salvation to others.

3. Where can a church usually get funds for a new church plants? According to James 4:2, “Ye have not because ye ask not”. Wherever God leads, God provides, and He does above all you ask or think (Ephesians 3:20, 4:12). You can plan, as a church, regarding this. You may start with a budget plan, which upon achievement of the desired goal can start realization for a new church.

4. Are there materials available to help in church planting? You can start studying the book of Acts to understand the Biblical principles on church planting. You should also study 1st and 2nd Timothy, as well as Titus with a church planting focus.

5. What if the church has no other leader to send? The Bible says “Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth laborers into his harvest” (Matthew 9:38). You can develop leaders in your church. That is where discipleship takes place. Leaders should train new leaders to equip them for their own ministries in the future. (Acts 8:5) The Jerusalem church has sent Philip in Acts 8:5, Barnabas in Acts 11:22, and Silas in Acts 15:25-27.

6. What if our own church has urgent needs? The Scripture says “Give and it shall be given unto you” (Luke 6:38). Ask God for generous and cheerful givers in the person of yourselves. You are blessed to be a blessing to others.

7. What is the Great Commission? The Great Commission is to do evangelism. It also includes mobilizing, “Teaching them to observe all things.” To be obedient to the commission to go to Judaea, Samaria, or the uttermost part of the earth, you also need to start new churches as you go.

8. Why is church planting important? According to the Bible, Jesus said, “I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it” (Matthew 16:18). You cannot attain world evangelism without realizing that there is a need to reproduce churches that, in turn, shall reproduce additional churches.

If you have similar questions, be sure to take into consideration these Biblical answers as you start your journey, or are just planning, towards establishing a new church. God will take what He started into completion, according to His will, so to be really successful in church planting, it only takes faith.

There are lots of considerations when it comes to church plant funding. More than the location, the people, and the industry, there are other factors that influence a plan to start a new church. Here are several concerns you need to keep in mind prior to taking a step into this venture.

1. Church plant funding will always be a challenge, especially in the current economic situation. Due to the economic crisis, it’s hard to get funding for a new church. Almost everybody, not just in the United States, but all over the world is experiencing financial burden. The finance sectors have not yet fully recovered their previous state, so huge taxes are still being imposed. It’s hard to find support when the person next to you is just as burdened as you are, but faith makes the impossible happen, so if you’re committed to the calling of planting a new church, there will always be available means provided. Some ideas you can utilize are partnership with another church, bi-vocation by the planter for additional support, fund raising activities, etc.

2. There are various ways to fund church planting activities. In relation to the first point, there are always things you can do. Believe that God has provided you with ever-expanding resources for the support of His work. In addition to the sources mentioned above, you can also ask your mother church to support you. In this case, usually, it covers most, if not all, of the necessary expense for the church planting ministry. You can also ask to receive an allotment from the presbytery funds. It will give you a head-start with the expenses. However, it may have to depend on your presbytery whether they have sufficient funds to share with you. You can also try and explore other options. Jehovah Jireh means God is my provider. If you claim that, no discouragement can hinder you from doing His work.

3. The rising cost of compensation for church planters is difficult to sustain. Prior to starting your ministry, take this fact into consideration. Working full time for the ministry involves living by faith. That’s a given fact. Workers are well aware of this, yet they still chose to fulfill their calling by continuing God’s work. It is then the responsibility of the church to take care of their workers and provide for their needs. Church planting is difficult as it is costly. Salvation is free indeed, but the ministry is very expensive. It is great to know that God provides, and that is the root by which your faith should stand. Jehovah Jireh.

4. Funding options for immigrant and ethnic church planters are complicated. If you are not a citizen, your options for funding are limited and complicated. This should not be a discouragement though. Supporters of God’s cause are everywhere, and there will always be generous people that are willing to be used for the ministry.

Take these considerations to heart. Church planting is difficult, expensive and hard to establish, but faith can move mountains. If you are sure of your calling, ask God to lead the way, and just succumb into His grace and provision. He fulfills His promises.

One of the main concerns in ministry expansion will always be the funding for church planting. It is a command as much as it is a calling and a burden to plant new churches, but it takes a lot to be fulfilled. In modern day scenario, you can’t just build a church out of nothing. Well, house churches are very common for beginners, but all the same it also takes a generous house owner to establish that. Here are possible sources of funding and their corresponding advantages and disadvantages.

Mother Church Support

The advantages to having this type of funding for church planting are that it almost always covers most, if not all, of the necessary expenses in the project. The planter/s is/are fully supported by the mother church in this endeavour and so there will be less difficulty when it comes to financial support and other needs. One disadvantage, however, is that it does not create ownership by the church planter, the presbytery, or potential planting partners. In a bureaucratic view, it would always belong under the mother church unless legal actions and certain agreements are taken, of course. It is important then, to determine the type of church you want to have and to get a futuristic outlook on things. If you want to be an independent church, then you may want to take lots of considerations before soliciting full support from your mother church.

Bi-Vocational Planters

This means that the church planters themselves are also involved with another form of livelihood. This gives them a chance to establish credibility and connection with the residents of the neighbourhood. It will also be easier for them to create rapport with the members of the community in that their visibility as individuals is also associated with the church. One fall back, however, is that it diverts the time and energy of the planters from the church planting work itself. Sure, it can help promote the new church, but they will not be able to work full-time for the ministry, and that can be a problem if not properly dealt.

Planter Support

Planters, in this case, engage in various fund raising methods for the ministry of church planting. It helps create ownership as well as make it possible to tap into resources that are not available otherwise. On a negative note, planters vary a great deal in their abilities to raise support and in networking, so it may be a difficult task for someone who has no background in such venture. Each minister is endowed with different talents, so the best thing to do here is to make use of each one’s strength. Focus in activities that you know you can handle well.

Funds, needless to say, are very important in any ministry, but more so in church planting. In this process, you are starting a new church, so it’s not technically possible to start with nothing. There is no reason, however, for any discouragement. Philippians 4:19 says, “And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.”

A church planting plan is very important in the entire development of the ministry. It is an integrated and continuous process. Establishing a new church is no easy task. From feeling the burden to start a new church throughout the entire process of praying, waiting for the answer, and finally realizing the calling, each step should be carefully calculated and taken in faith.

1. Calling – The first step to consider in a church planting plan is to verify your calling. Take various self-assessments to help determine your readiness to plant a church. A calling starts with a burden that naturally calls for many months and years of praying.

2. Equipping – This involves learning more about the process of church planting and the things that are required in starting a new church. Some things that can help equip you are attending conferences, networking with other church planters in online and offline processes, attending workshops, reading books about it, reviewing online resources, and many more.

3. Model of Church Planting – There are various models you can use in the process of starting a new church, some of which are house churches (the most common type of church planting model), parachute, independent, team, and many more.

4. New Location of the Church – Identify the area where the new church will be located. Obtain the necessary information including demographic data. You may also take a visit to potential areas to take a good and closer look. You may also solicit advice from other churches as to the most apt church location.

5. People – Get a clear picture of the typical family in your target area. Be aware of the demographics to help you in identifying and defining the people you are going to reach.

6. Sponsors – This refers to the sponsors of the church planting ministry. Do you or will you have a primary sponsor like a church, a church planting organization, a denomination, etc.? Are you planning to recruit partners for this endeavor, and whom?

7. Prayer Warriors – As soon as possible, it is important to get a prayer team started. Get weekly prayers out and try to gather 50-100 persons quickly to pray for you. It is one of the biggest foundations for your ministry, so give priority in prayer.

8. Planning – Formulate and develop an intricate plan of action to get from where you are to where you want to be. It doesn’t stop there, though. Planning is, and should be, a continuous process in church planting.

9. Core Team Development – The development of your church will largely depend on the size and commitment of your core team. Learn to prioritize people, especially the members of your team. You may find it difficult at times to focus on interpersonal relationships, especially when there are seemingly endless details involved in the management of your ministry, but never take it for granted.

10. Delegating – Learn to delegate stuff. Don’t try to do everything, especially when someone else can do it just as effectively as you. Delegate actions to your volunteers, interns, staff, students, spouse, etc.

Remember these steps in formulating a plan for your church planting ministry. These are very important guidelines that can give you good insight as to the sequence and importance of your actions.

One popular concept in advertising nowadays is behavioural Retargeting or simply Retargeting. It is one of the latest complementary strategies in Internet advertising. Internet marketing is all about traffic generation, they say, but that’s just actually half of the whole equation. The more difficult half involves making customers out of your visitors. Advertisers are nonstop in looking for the perfect combination of campaigns that will produce expected and favorable outcomes for them. Major strategies used are Google AdWords, Keyword Campaigns, etc., which are almost always paired with Retargeting, as it is the most common complementary strategy of choice. Prior to engaging in this campaign, however, here are a few things you need to consider:

1. Review your current marketing strategy and consider its effectiveness prior to starting a behavioural Retargeting campaign. Advertisers and business owners must first perform a thorough company evaluation with regards to every marketing strategy they have employed for their business. Check which ones have been successful and which ones need to be stopped. Consider the appropriateness of funds to the corresponding outcomes for every given project. Does the end justify the means? Before starting another Internet promotion strategy, you always need to evaluate preexisting ones so as to prevent ineffectiveness and disorganization in your business marketing. Advertisers also need to look into the mistakes, and lapses they have previously committed so as not to do them again in future endeavors.

2. Do your research. Prior to starting your Retargeting campaign, know your cards. Be aware of the recent statistics regarding your strategies, not just with Retargeting, but with other future marketing plans. Know the best methods that elicit response from consumers and find a way to incorporate them in your campaigns. You have to be aware of the latest trends in your chosen field, so you know what steps to make and what to prepare for. You can’t afford to miss out on anything because competition is always tough when it comes to business, especially Internet marketing. You also need to be aware of certain strategies that will help your campaign work out effectively. Basically, you have to stay in the loop. You need to be consistently updated of things that you know can have a significant effect on your business.

3. Identify the message of your proposed Retargeting campaign. 98% of visitors leave without buying, so you need to consider that, and other pertinent information when formulating your plan. You need to be very creative and original when designing your banner ad. Remember that yours is just one of the many other competition banners, whose owners have probably gone through the same strategic and planning process as yourself. You have to be very clear and direct with your message. Tell your consumers what it is all about by just one look at your ad. It has to be complete and compelling at the same time.

Remember these guidelines before you start your Retargeting campaign. It’s good to be prepared and to be aware of what you’re getting into instead of just following suit with your competitors. Internet marketing is serious business, and there’s no perfect formula for this. You need to find the right mix of strategies that will work best for your products and services; real success starts there.

It is highly effective to incorporate banner Retargeting into your overall Internet marketing strategy. It operates quite simply. Once your site receives a visitor, an ad network cookie is setup on their browser. When they are visiting other websites that are part of the ad network, banner advertisements relating to your site are served to them. The ad network will recognize the cookie set-up on their browser and will automatically serve them the banner ad of your choice. It is not a primary Internet marketing tool, however. It functions only as a complementary optimization program, because brand awareness must preexist. It can be partnered with SEO but is most effective when used with SEM. Banner Retargeting works in between the Desire and Action phase of the consumer. By this time, some viewers might already have inclinations towards certain products based on the pages they have visited. The banner ad will give you opportunities to reach out to a person who hasn’t made a purchase form you yet.

One other reason why banner Retargeting is such a hit is because it is effective in re-engaging visitors and in reinforcing your brand, thereby increasing brand awareness and visibility. It’s also about strategy. Take, for example, the placement of your ad. If you place it on same niche ad, competition is going to be tough, and there’s a high chance you will not get noticed amidst the noise, but if you consider placing an ad on a website with a different niche, say sports, and your ad is all about fashion, then there’s a good chance that your banner would stand out against sports-related ad and backdrops.

Some banner ad becomes effective with Retargeting, as well. Sequential banners, for example, tell a story in sequence, as the name implies. Each banner builds a story based on the theme from the previously shown banner. This process demands creativity and originality on the part of the advertisers. In order to tell the story of your brand or product, you need to create ads that are out of the ordinary. The other creative advantage is that you can test different offers with this. If you have weekday promotions, you can send out direct messages quickly to your targeted audience with a banner ad Retargeting. This quick cycle time will enable you to optimize your banner ad.

This marketing process, however, has its own limitations. First is audience size. To be effective, Retargeting has to be scalable. Since you can only Retarget those people who have visited your website, you’ll need high amounts of traffic on your pages to achieve a large pool of prospects. The ad network also has a significant impact on Retargeting. Prior to signing up to an ad network’s Retargeting program, you need to be aware of certain facts like how long they are going to keep the cookie active, how many advertisers and websites are associated with that ad network, etc. Most ad networks serve direct-response marketers and only have short-term cookies, usually with 30-day expiration. Usually, this would be sufficient for some, depending on many variables.

Originally started by Google as Remarketing, retargeting banners have gradually taken different forms, and even names as more and more advertisers are being convinced of its power to generate conversions for any type of website. Generally, it’s all about the ad. Once users express intent, it’s your job to convince and compel them to make a purchase through that ad. One single ad can make a difference, but that would have to depend on a lot of factors like commercial intent and the like. Complementary as it is, Retargeting has many benefits. Check out the following:

1. Retargeting banners reinforce intent. Retargeting, as the word implies, aims to re-target customers. Meaning, they have already expressed interest in your products and services based on the pages of your website that they have visited, so with the use of the banners, they will be reminded, once again, of those particular products and services they have previously checked out. The work of Retargeting is this: once users view certain web pages in your website, a cookie will be attached to their browser. In any occasion, they don’t make a purchase from you, for whatever reason, and strays off to another website, which is still a part of the same ad network as yours, the cookie will be recognized, and they will receive banners pertaining to those particular products they viewed.

2. It increases brand awareness. This is very important in Internet marketing. In order for your company to be “popular” among your target consumers, you really need to find ways and means to promote your brand. Retargeting helps you do that by increasing product or service visibility through creative banner advertisements and such. Some advertisers use their banners to create a story for their brand. This is to ensure that people stay tuned for the next sequence in the plot. Not to mention that it also works effectively in retaining your company to the consumers’ minds since they will always associate you with your banner story ad. Only two things can happen, either they would love your ad and have a positive association with you or they wouldn’t like it and maintain that negative association with you for a long time. It’s a challenge, in a way, for you to strive to be unique and original in your advertising campaigns.

3. It complements other ad campaigns. Banner Retargeting is not meant to be a primary ad campaign, mainly due to several limitations in scope and other factors. It works very well with keyword campaigns in that you will have a much targeted set of consumers. Ad campaigns are specific responses to specific queries, so Retargeting banners will furthermore enforce the preciseness of the search. Consumers will be searching for particular products, and considering that cookies can stay in their browsers for 30 days, Retargeting can take effect and deliver to them specific as well as pre-loved product. This process will almost always increase conversion for your site.

These are the three primary advantages of Retargeting. It may not be a main marketing strategy, but it sure is effective when adjunctively used with other forms of Internet advertising. You just have to find the right combination of things to find what’s going to work best for you. Once you do, stick with it, but widen your perspective and keep exploring other options that can further improve your marketing.

Commercial as it may sound, marketing a church is serious business. The success of a church can be measured by the number of its members, not because quantity matters most, but because it is a testimony as to the effectivity of the ministry in reaching out to unbelievers, sharing the gospel to them, and training them to become disciplers for another set of unbelievers. Church leadership is a cycle. You lead because you were trained to lead; therefore you are accountable for training future leaders who will continue the legacy. Church growth, however, doesn’t come easy. Strategy, hard work, passion, zeal, and commitment all work together to bring forth productivity. Here are some ideas you can incorporate in your own church marketing plan.

1. Give out tracts. This is probably the most traditional method when it comes to marketing a church. Yet, it is one of the most effective and successful. Simplicity and sincerity combined. It sounds easy, but it’s not. How many of you can go out to the streets or public places and distribute tracts to strangers? As much as possible, you also have to share the content of your tracts with them. Some people just take them, and then set them aside for good, that’s why it’s very important to take chances to really share the Word. The challenge here is that you will not always meet agreeable individuals, so be prepared and committed. Do not let anything, or anybody rather, faze your resolve to accomplish great things for the ministry. Always remember that your labor is not in vain with the Lord, so take heart.

2. Conduct a Bible basketball clinic. As the name implies, it’s all about the Bible and basketball. Every after the game, there will be sessions, then games again. Whoever fails to attend a session will not be allowed to participate in the next game. The targets here are children and the youth, whose mindsets are still submissive to authority. Though there are no restrictions, really. The aim here is to invite Christian boys and their unbelieving friends to participate in the clinic. Usually, they would want to come for a chance of playing basketball as much as they want, in accordance with the camp rules and regulations. Little did they know that it would also have a huge impact on their lives as they get to know about the gospel and achieve salvation. The life testimonies alone of previous participants can attest to how effective this ministry is.

3. Create a church website. Most churches today have their own online portfolios. It may be commercial, in nature, but the purpose outweighs everything else. The reason behind the importance of a church website is so that you can tell others about who you are as a church. Even your neighbors who never step inside your church grounds may not be fully aware of what you stand for and what you’re all about, so what better way than to reach out to them through your site? Also, in today’s time and age where almost everybody relies on the internet for an answer to a question, it is a necessity to have online visibility.

These are very important outreach ideas. You have to make sure that you allocate enough time and delegation for each of your ministries in order for them to work out. Constantly do evaluations to determine which areas need improvement. Above all, be steadfast in prayer and commit everything to the Lord.

Church websites have really gone a long way when it comes to making their presence felt online. It wasn’t too long ago when churches were several years behind their time. Ultimately, a growing number have recognized the importance of visibility and marketability. Not for the sake of profit, certainly, but to be able to maximize the available resources to achieve what’s best and good for the ministry. So, back to the question, what makes up a good church website, really? Undeniably, design plays a big role in the success of any online endeavor, but it’s about time you get to know more about the less-splendored, yet equally useful facets of web creation.

1. Content – Cliché or not, but content is king when it comes to the most excellent church websites. It comes in any form; be it in written, in an image, or in video, content is the most useful piece of information you can give to your readers. What’s the use of a website that offers everything except valuable, pertinent, and helpful information? Your visitors are there for a reason, and they expect to get just that. For churches, content comes in writing and in pictures, mostly, because you give accounts of your testimony through the pictures. It’s not required, but it’s customary, and it has so far proved to be very effective in soliciting responses, thus the continued support and patronage of its users.

2. Interactivity – This means that your visitors are interacting with you and with each other. It’s very difficult to achieve that for a website, especially if you don’t know how to do that. I came across a post by Michael Buckingham that outlines the importance of using a question mark in soliciting responses from its users. He applied it with social media, Facebook in particular, but truth be told, you can definitely work it out on your site, as well. Promote interaction in your user community by asking them questions from time to time. Do not be declarative, nor exclamatory as much as possible. You have to provide information, as per the idea in the first point, but you have to work your way around things in order to make the most out of your resources and ideas.

3. Character – This is out of place in all the tech-savvy terms used around here, but going back to the basics, it all boils down to this. This is what’s going to make you or break you in the eyes of your visitors. Who you are as a church is the most important aspect of all. Your beliefs, advocacies, declaration of faith, etc. are what truly define you and the only real influences when it comes to reaching out to others. You can present them with all the good things and good words you can offer, or even the most fun and fab fellowships, but at the end of the day, they’re looking for belongingness and peace. Build good Christian character and let it stand out in everything you do, that others may see your good works and glorify your Father, who is in heaven.

These three aspects, along with good design, will be the key to having success in your church website. Competition is tough indeed, but always go back to the basics. Remember why you are doing this in the first place. It’s not about being the best for your sake, but always for the ministry.
